Fail to succeed

“It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all—in which case, you fail by default.”
J.K. Rowling

Have you ever tried real hard to accomplish something? Have you ever stayed overnight or sacrifice time to work on something you love and you think you're good at?

What happens if your effort is not enough and you fail miserably? Do you give up? Do you stop doing what you do and listen to what people tell you? Do you cry alone in your room? Are these too many questions at once? Probably...
When failing, it seems reasonable to stop trying after the hundred time you gave your best and you only found rejection. It's easier to leave it alone and change your mindset, give up and never try again.
What if I told you that if some people followed that advice, you'd never listen to songs like “Let It Be”, “Here Comes the Sun”, “Something”, etc. (If you haven't heard those two last songs, you might want to, that's why I mentioned them). You wouldn't know who Harry Potter was (and thousands of memes wouldn't have been created, probably we wouldn't  know who Emma Watson was). You wouldn't know who the Chicago Bulls were (anyone remembers them from their glory days?). You might never even know who Mickey Mouse was, Bugs Bunny would've taken over (no one wants that).
All these people found success in failure, in rejection. They just kept trying, even when they had the odds against them, even when everybody rejected their work.

J.K. Rowling, the author of The Harry Potter saga was rejected by several publishers. She was broke; she didn't even have money to make photocopies of the book. She had to re-type the whole thing to send it to multiple publishers. Imagine re-typing 320 pages several times, I doubt she even touches a keyboard these days; she must have her own personal assistant to write her e-mails for her.

Rowling was living off of government assistance. Her book was rejected because it was too long for a kid to read it. Eventually, her assistant gave a copy to his daughter; she read the book and loved it. Finally, they decided to print some copies and you know the rest. I'm not a big fan, I’m not going to dig too much into it.

Michael Jordan, the man who gave the number 23 a meaning (some people think there was magic in that number), was also rejected. I'm not even going to mention all the trophies and championship rings he won. He could turn a defeating game in minutes, even being sick.
Michael Jordan was cut from his high school team (apparently he was too short).  This only motivated him to continue practicing, to master his art. He later went to play baseball and eventually, returned to basketball again, just to win more awards and become a legend.

Walt Disney started his career producing short films with his own company, the company later went bankrupt. This didn't demotivate him; he packed his works and headed to Hollywood where he continued his career. He was later rejected by the city of Anaheim when he tried to build an amusement park called "The Happiest Place on Earth" (aka. Disney world, ever heard of it?).

Some say he was turned down 302 times before he got financing for creating Disney World. Imagine if he had given up, I know I wouldn't have some of my childhood memories and my sister wouldn't have been stepped on her foot by Pluto.

Finally, the Beatles. Not big deal, it's not like they changed music history, it's not like they influenced every single band in the history of the universe.

There's a before the Beatles and after the Beatles.
They were rejected by several record companies in London, they eventually where scheduled for an audition with Decca Records, just to be rejected because "guitar groups are on the way out" and "the Beatles have no future in show business". Instead, they signed a band called "Brian Poole and the Tremoloes"... no comments.
They later got signed by EMI. Beatles' songs are taught in schools, in music class. Imagine if they'd given up, music would be so different.

So, next time you give your best and fail, don't give up, just try again, and again, don’t take a failure as a final result, it’s not the end of the road yet. Things will not be handed to you, there's action involved, you have to work hard for what you want. Success is not guaranteed, but hard work is, and eventually, you'll master what you do and accomplish your goals. Success is there for those who keep on trying, even after failing.
